Not Okay- Trailer

The YouTube channel for Searchlight Pictures released the trailer for Not Okay on June 21, 2022. The clip starts by alerting the viewers that the movie features an unlikable female lead – and the social satire only gets stronger from there on. The next scene shows Danni coping with the repercussions of a deception that blew out of control while receiving mockery from strangers worldwide.

Not Okay- Plot

Not Okay centers on aimless writer Danni Sanders, who has no friends, no potential love interests, and worst of all, no fans. Therefore, to make herself appear more interesting on social media and gain more followers, the young woman pretends to take an Instagram-friendly trip to Paris. Although things start out fine, Danni soon gets sucked into a deception much bigger than anything she could have ever dreamed of.

When a frightening incident occurs in the City of Lights, she “comes back” as a hero and develops a connection with Rowan, a school shooting massacre victim committed to social change. In addition, Danni finally gets closer to Colin, the love of her life.

To keep up with her lies (and keep her audiences engaged), Danni takes on the role of an entrepreneur and an activist. However, her façade soon begins to fall apart, allowing her to discover how costly fame can be.
