Lord of the Rings on Netflix

In 1948, J. R. R. Tolkien wrote a novel that would leave an impression on generations to come. The novel was titled, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. It was published in July of the year,1954. The novel soon had its successors and became the pinnacle of fantasy literature. In 2001, the genesis happened. The novel finally made it to the silver screen and the first movie, possessing the same title, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring made its debut at the box office. Needless to say, it was an astounding success and spawned two more parts as a part of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, namely The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Return of the King. You will be able to watch The Lord of the Rings on Netflix after reading this blog.

The work to bring this fantasy to on-screen life began as early as 1997 when the director, Peter Jackson started collaborating with Christian Rivers on the project’s storyboard. It took the duo some time and the shooting officially began in 1999, prior to which, the cast members were given training and sword fighting, riding and boating among other skills necessary for the movie. The first part was finally released on 20th December 2001.

And since it’s an epic tale of civilizations and empires that took it more than half a dozen books to tell the story, it’s rather hard to summarize the plot in just a few lines but just to give you an idea without spoiling much, the first part, The Fellowship of the Ring, as the name suggests, is about a ring, literally called One Ring and how it holds the future of the whole civilization. Because of the ring’s potential, powerful beings are in search of this sacred possession. However, the ring falls into the possession of a young Hobbit, Frodo Baggins (played by Elijah Wood) who must choose to destroy the ring at Mount Doom, the place where it was forged.

The Upcoming LOTR show Name and Plot Finally Revealed

It’s official! Amazon Prime’s upcoming epic television series, based on J.R.R Tolkien’s novel, Lord of the Rings finally has a name and a plot.

The upcoming Lord of the Ring series will be called The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and will serve as the prequel to the original Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The series is set thousands of years before the events of Lord of the Rings as well as Hobbit and focuses on the events where the 20 rings are distributed and on how Sauron, the Dark Lord’s evil spreads.

The series will neither be retelling the events of the LOTR trilogy nor that of the Hobbit trilogy. It will, however, feature some, not all of the familiar characters which will be played by other actors.

The news has been confirmed by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, the showrunners of this new Amazon Prime series. They have also confirmed exploring the tales of Numenor and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men.

Of course, the novel and Peter Jackson’s trilogy has set the bar so high, viewers and Amazon Prime subscribers are expecting nothing short of an epic story that puts even the best TV shows to shame. However, the reaction to the title reveal has been a little mixed. And we certainly hope it lives up to the expectations of the people given its plot and its USD 465 million budget.
