What is the story?
In modern-day Japan, Minoru Kageno dreams of becoming a secretive mastermind. Tragically, he is killed by a truck but is reborn in a fantasy world as Cid Kagenou. In this new realm, he continues his secret ambitions while maintaining a facade of mediocrity.
Cid cures an elven girl named Alpha of a mysterious illness. He convinces her that they need to fight against a dangerous Cult of Diablos, creating a story to cover his secret operations. Alpha joins his organization, Shadow Garden, unaware that Cid’s fabricated tale of the cult is true.
As Cid navigates this world under his alias ‘Shadow,’ he becomes embroiled in real political and magical conflicts. What started as a made-up threat becomes a genuine struggle, forcing him to lead Shadow Garden in a real fight against the Cult of Diablos. The line between his fictional narrative and reality blurs, thrusting him into the very role he created.
