The movie’s director has to follow CBFC’s guidelines to release a film in Indian theaters, but OTT is exempted from these rules, and we will enjoy an extended version of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal on Netflix on January 26, 2024.

Upon inquiring about the movie from Netflix’s customer support, they said they knew nothing about Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal coming to Netflix.
We repeatedly asked them about the film, but the reply was the same. Here are the screenshots of one of our team members’ conversations with them.
It looks like Netflix’s customer support has no idea about what is coming and leaving from Netflix. We don’t blame them because it is difficult to keep a record of every film leaving and arriving on the streaming giant.
But it’s Netflix! They should have something like that, and in our conversation with Netflix customer support, she asked our team member to wait and replied back after a minute or two. It looked like she closed our tab switch to some kind of internal search engine and searched for Animal releasing on Netflix, but she couldn’t find anything.
She was so naive in recommending the Animal Docuseries (2022) and then the 2016 Animal movie, which made us laugh.
To double-check, we went to Netflix’s official website, which has all the announcements and blogs, to find Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal on Netflix. But it looks like Netflix hasn’t announced a release date for Animal, and it will be a surprise, or will it?
Whatever it is, we are going with the rumor/ unofficial news of Animal coming to Netflix on Friday, January 26, 2024, because we want to stream the movie one more time in HD/4K quality (with the 8-minute edition). We want to see Ranbir and Bobby go shirtless again and beat the hell out of each other.

Why is Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal so popular?
The film showed a strong bond between a son and a father. Anil Kapoor plays the father’s role (Balbir Sing), and his son is Ranbir Kapoor (Ranvijay Singh). We don’t want to spoil the story for those eagerly waiting to stream Animal on Netflix, so we will keep the story short.
Babir is a super-rich businessman who is super busy with his own stuff and can’t find time for his family, especially for his son, who looks forward to his father as Superman. There is an iconic scene where the son, Ranvijay, asks his father, Balvir, to redo the scene of his birthday. He asked him to recall that day when all his friends were attending Micheal Jackson’s concert, and he ditched them because it was his father’s birthday.
He made his father redo the scene, but this time, the roles will be opposite. Ranvijay will be the father, and Balvir will be the son, asking his father (who is busy looking at messages and calls) about his birthday celebration.
The entry of Bobby Deol in the movie is also an iconic scene. Bobby played the role of the villain (Abrar Haque), who is attending his own wedding ceremony. In the scene, he is dancing and looks happy after seeing his bride. His dance with a wine glass on his head is mimicked by many individuals, including some of the biggest superstars in Hindi cinema, Salman Khan, Dharmendra, etc.
The climax of the movie is also an end you won’t expect to see in a Hindi movie. This makes it a different Bollywood film, with a different story and a climax totally opposite to what we are used to seeing in Hindi films. (We don’t want to spoil it).
The director of the film, Sandeep Reddy, did an outstanding job in every department. He pushed every actor to their limit and brought out the best in them, us, and the film.
The Stroy
Ranbir Kapoor stars as Vijay, the sole heir to a prosperous family, in the Hindi cinema epic Animal. Vijay’s life unfolds in the shadows of his father, Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor), a man deeply absorbed in his steel business.
The narrative of Animal weaves through various periods of Vijay’s life, from his youth to his later years, illustrating how his deep-seated need for love and recognition spirals into a series of violent events. His internal conflicts serve as a backdrop for numerous bloody confrontations, with one notable scene where Vijay single-handedly takes down hundreds of thugs in an effort to defend his father.
The film attempts to shock with its brash and excessive violence, yet the action scenes lack originality and impact, coming across as a lackluster imitation of classics like The Godfather or Scarface.

Monika Rawal Kukreja from the Hindustan Times described the movie as a “massy, entertaining, and extremely violent thriller” that doesn’t adhere to typical norms. However, she noted that the level of violence might not appeal to everyone.
Abhimanyu Mathur from DNA India gave the film a 3.5/5 rating, commenting that “Animal” amplifies its problematic aspects substantially. He found it to be the most violent Hindi movie he’s seen, with inherent toxic and misogynistic undertones. Despite these issues, he acknowledged that the film is well-made and entertaining, with Ranbir Kapoor delivering an impressive performance.
On the other hand, Renuka Vyavahare of The Times of India rated the film 2.5/5, describing it as “all style but lacking in depth” and a derailed family drama. She criticized the film’s portrayal of women and violence but commended Ranbir Kapoor for his compelling sex appeal and intensity. India Today’s Anvita Singh rated it 2/5, summarizing it as a problematic film with a thin plot, although she highlighted Ranbir Kapoor’s outstanding performance.
