Deep Water – Plot

The movie is based on a novel by Patricia Highsmith that she wrote in 1957. The movie follows the life of a couple that is no longer in love. This premise leads to mind games by both the parties in the relationship and ends up in the disappearance of people around them and even deaths.

The idea to do a movie on this Highsmith novel goes back to 2013 when Adrian Lyne set to direct the project for Fox 2000 Pictures. That didn’t happen and after more than five years, the rights were sold to New Regency and by 2019, Ben Affleck and Ana De Armas were onboard and by November of the same year, the shooting had begun. 

The movie’s release date has been pushed at least 3 times with the original release date being November 13, 2020. After moving the date further to August 13, 2021, the movie was pushed another 5 months and the date for January 14 2022, was finalized but that didn’t come to pass as well as the date was further pushed to 18th March 2022.

This seems to be the final date because Hulu has already released a trailer on Valentine’s day, 14th February 2022 with the official date mentioned.
